Lowes and van der Mark take on Europe

The Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team are looking to build on a strong start to the season at this weekend´s Pirelli Aragon Round. The team returns to Europe on the back of two strong weekends in Australia and Thailand, with Alex Lowes a constant fixture in the top six. Dutch rider Michael van der Mark has shown consistent improvement, as he adapts to the Yamaha and fourth position in the opening race in Thailand showed his potential for the coming races.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back on my R1 and kick-starting the European season,” said Lowes. “Aragon is a track I really enjoy, and I believe we can continue our good start to the season there. My goal is no less than to be challenging for the podiums now, I am confident that if the Pata Yamaha team and I do our job in the Friday practices then we have a good chance to be there!"

Last year at Aragon the team showed the early potential of the Yamaha YZR-R1 by having two riders on the front row of the grid and with the team having tested at the Spanish venue in November they will look to put those lessons to good use this weekend.

"I'm really looking forward to this weekend in Aragon, it will be quite interesting to see the progress we have made here with the R1 since the first test I made in Aragon in the winter,” said van der Mark. “After the good race one performance in Thailand I'm sure we will be quick to make a good set up for this race and be ready for some great results!"

Free practise One commences on Friday 31s March as both riders will take on the Spanish circuit, and be sure to check out the video pass to see how their fortunes fare this weekend.
